In sad news today, Don Cherry took to social media to share that the first-ever captain of the Mississauga Ice Dogs, Scott Page, has passed away today at the age of 44. Cherry shared some kind words about Page as a hockey player in his post.
Page played for several teams in the OHL, including the Sudbury Wolves and the Soo Greyhounds before becoming the inaugural captain of the Mississauga Ice Dogs, the team that is now co-owned by Wayne Gretzky and has since moved to Niagara.
Page, unfortunately, did not make it to the NHL despite his legacy in the OHL, and played university hockey in Canada before appearing in one season of the UHL for the Adirondack Frostbite.
