The NHL has unveiled significant rule modifications for the upcoming seaso. Here's what fans can expect:
The Helmets Are Now Mandatory for Warmups
Fans will miss seeing the iconic hairstyles of their favorite players. A previously casual recommendation has now become a strict rule.

Expansion of the Coaches Challenge
The coach's challenge receives a notable enhancement this season. Should a puck leave the play unnoticed by an official, it can now be challenged by any of the coaches.
An Intriguing Twist to the Offside Rule
The offside rule has also seen an adjustment. It now states:
"If, during a delayed off-side, an attacking player in the attacking zone opts to head to his players' bench (extending into the attacking zone) for substitution, he is deemed to have cleared the zone when both his skates leave the ice, contingent upon the Linesperson's judgment that he has exited the playing area."
This might not seem monumental, but it paves the way for strategic changes during games. It will be captivating to watch if teams come up with strategies to get around the rule.
There's Now a Unified Rule for Illegal Sticks
Previously, the criterias for an illegal stick were dispersed throughout the rulebook. In an effort to be more efficient and clear, all such conditions will now be grouped under Rule 10.8. This aims to provide referees with the clarity needed to enforce this rule uniformly and more frequently during matches.
