Yesterday, rumours began that Jeff Marek, host of 32 Thoughts would be leaving Sportsnet in a shocking development, and now he's confirmed the speculation.
For years now, hockey fans have been entertained and informed by the 32 Thoughts podcast, hosted by Insider Elliotte Friedman and Jeff Marek, but since the 2024 NHL Draft, the latter has been nowhere to be seen. That kick-started speculation on X that he was departing Sportsnet, and a day later, he has now officially confirmed the news on social media.
"Firstly, thanks for the outpouring of kinds words on Twitter/X. It really means the world to me," said Marek.
"After 13 great years at Sportsnet, I'm moving on. It's been an incredible journey and I'm thankful to have worked alongside so many great people and played a role in bringing sports and hockey news to fans across Canada and the world. More to come soon."
Unsurprisingly, Marek is teasing more to come for his career, and given the outpouring of support that he received in the wake of the news, it's safe to say that there's many fans excited about his future, wherever that may be. As for the podcast alongside Friedman, it has been reported that he will continue alone for now, and while there's plenty of excitement about Marek's future, he will be a big loss for Sportsnet and coverage of hockey in Canada.
