NHL Insider Reveals team's 33 and 34 in the NHL
While it's likely going to be a while before an official announcement comes, the NHL is seemingly ready to make Salt Lake City and Atlanta the home of teams 33 and 34 in the NHL.
It's been a bit quieter on the expansion chatter lately, because of the deadline, but it's sounding like there's continued progress towards Atlanta 3.0 and word of a proposed arena district seems to have Sept/Oct timeline. Utah 33. Atlanta 34.
According to David Pagnotta, there could be official word of a proposed arena district in Atlanta come September or October, and when that happens, it will all but confirm their status as the home of a new NHL team. With Ryan Smith, the Owner of the Utah Jazz lobbying so hard for an NHL team, it comes as no surprise that Salt Lake City will be the home of team number 33, and at this point, it appears all but official as we now await an announcement from the league.
