Carson Rehkopf traded for a staggering 10 draft picks

Carson Rehkopf started his climb to the NHL in the OHL's 2021-22 season. After posting 18 goals and 15 assists in 65 games in his first season with the Kitchener Rangers, he was expected to get drafted at some point in the second round in 2023. Fortunately, the Seattle Kraken decided to take a chance on him when he became eligible, drafting him at 50th overall.

Since he became an official Seattle Kraken prospect, Rehkopf has seemed to get exponentially better on the ice. Following his 33-point first season, he followed up with 59 in 68 games in the 2022-23 season before posting 95 in just 60 games this year, with 52 in goals.

Despite his clear value on the ice, the Kitchener Rangers were offered a deal they could not refuse. The Brampton Steelheads took on the 19-year-old forward for an astounding 10 OHL draft picks. The Rangers will have an extra pick in rounds two through four for the next three years, plus an added 2026 seventh-rounder.

It is clear that given their willingness to put up a buffet of draft picks, the Brampton Steelheads are looking to go big this year. Hopefully, Carson Rehkopf can continue his upward movement and lead the team to the Memorial Cup. If not, Bramtpon could struggle to perform for years to come.
