After USA Gymnastic's valiant attempt to appeal the decision, the CAS ruled against reinstating Jordan Chiles' bronze medal.

Jordan Chiles has become one of the biggest names out of the 2024 Paris Olympics. Yet, despite her incomparable talent, an unfortunate controversy set her apart. She stunned viewers with her gymnastics floor routine, which immediately sent her into fourth place. However, after judges noticed a discrepancy of 0.1 in their tabulation, she was pushed into a podium position.
However, the Romanian Gymnastics Federation alleged in an inquiry sent on behalf of fourth-place Ana Barbosu that the report was submitted seconds late. Seemingly without hesitation, the IOC decided to strip Jordan Chiles of her medal. However, USA Gymnastics vowed to appeal the decision upon the entry of new video evidence proving all inquiries were submitted on time.
"The time-stamped, video evidence submitted by USA Gymnastics Sunday evening shows Landi first stated her request to file an inquiry at the inquiry table 47 seconds after the score is posted, followed by a second statement 55 seconds after the score was originally posted.

The video footage provided was not available to USA Gymnastics prior to the tribunal's decision and thus USAG did not have the opportunity to previously submit it."
Unfortunately, the CAS has decided it is too late for any additional evidence, stating they no longer have the power to reverse any reward decisions. USA Gymnastics, though disheartened, has assured fans that they intend to move up the ladder, even to the Swiss Federal Tribunal, to ensure Jordan Chiles gets the credit she deserves.
"USA Gymnastics was notified by the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) on Monday that their rules do not allow for an arbitral award to be reconsidered even when conclusive new evidence is presented.

We are deeply disappointed by the notification and will continue to pursue every possible avenue and appeal process, including the Swiss Federal Tribunal, to ensure just scoring, placement, and medal award for Jordan."
Though there is a glimmer of hope with USA Gymnastics moving up the chain of command, the chances of Jordan Chiles getting her bronze medal back seem relatively bleak. Regardless of how the next events unfold, fans have already taken the opportunity to pay her tribute, honoring her as the true victor in this Paris Olympics nightmare.
