The Anaheim Ducks shocked the NHL world by acquiring Cutter Gauthier for Jamie Drysdale on Monday night, and now that newfound depth may allow them to make another shock move.
While many see Trevor Zegras as the face of the Anaheim Ducks, he is still reportedly not the type of player that Pat Verbeek would want to build around, and that could lead to a big time deal.
He may have just been speculating, but TSN's Darren Dreger recently said that a couple of teams around the league have told him that Trevor Zegras could be in play this season.
Dreger: This isn't reporting, this is wide spread speculation. I've had a couple of teams suggest Zegras could be in play.

A rising star on the way out in Anaheim
Zegras may be one of the most electric players in the NHL, but his lack of defensive ability and his lack of physicality are often held against him, and with the acquisition of Gauthier fitting their timeline better, this could be a smart move for the Ducks.
Ultimately, they are in a win-win situation here, as moving Zegras could net them more future prospects, but if not, they've got another skilled young player to match up alongside Troy Terry, Leo Carlsson, Gauthier and Mason MacTavish moving forward.
