The Arizona Coyotes have been in the center of many trade rumours this summer, but none were more prominent or surprising than the rumoured Clayton Keller for William Nylander swap with Toronto.

Despite Keller's career year, the uncertainty of the arena and the Coyotes future in Arizona led many to believe he was ready to officially request a trade out of there.

This led directly to the Nylander rumours, as Toronto were seemingly looking to upgrade at the position, but beyond that, it made little sense, as Keller fits in with Arizona's timeline and has seemingly always been committed to their future.

Now, in a recent interview, Keller has opened up on just how close that deal potentially came, and unsurprisingly, he revealed what we all expected.

After a career high in goals, assists, points, games, +/-, time on ice and shot percentage, it's clear that Keller is the face of the Coyotes rebuild, and unless something drastic changes in the near future, he appears committed to a team with a very, very bright future.
