Clayton Keller is one of the very few bright spots in Arizona. He scored 37 goals and 86 points last year with his best teammate being Nick Schmaltz who posted only 58 points.
Keller was far and away the best player for the Coyotes and has shown a desire to stay in Arizona by saying it is his home.
Last year, the Coyotes had four alternate captains, Keller, Lawson Crouse, Jakob Chychrun, and Andrew Ladd. They traded Chychrun away mid-season and Ladd announced his retirement earlier this year. That leaves Keller and Crouse and with Keller being more deserving of the two, he gets the nod.
