Why have the Bruins failed to sign Swayman yet? It seems as though the main reason is money. The team currently has 8.6 million dollars in cap space. Typically, that would be more than enough to sign any goaltender. The only goalie that makes more than that currently is
Andrei Vasilevskiy, although
Connor Hellebuyck comes close with a cap hit of 8.5 million dollars. However, Bruins insider Kevin Paul DuPont believes that Swayman will have an average-annual-value higher than 9 million dollars on his next deal, which would mean the team would have to free up more space to sign him.
