Swayman's contract negotiations are understandably tough. The team has shown they are committed to him as their number one goaltender as they traded
Linus Ullmark earlier in the summer. However, the team has just 8.6 million dollars in cap space, which may not be enough to sign their star goalie. Not many goaltenders around the league are worth that kind of contract, but Swayman appears to be one of them as he has excellent career numbers. In 132 career games, he has a record of 79-33-15, a goals-against-average of 2.34 and a save percentage of .919. All three of those numbers put him among the elite of the elite at his position. Last season was a slight downturn putting up numbers just below his career average, but he also set a career high in games played with 44, plus an additional 12 playoff contests.
