Today on the Jones & Keefe show a mind-blowing announcement was made about Jeremy Swayman that has everyone shaking their heads.

As of now, the Bruins netminder has not signed a deal with the team. With training camp getting close to starting soon, Bruins fans are wondering what the outcome of a contract will be.
It was reported on the show by Rich 'Scoop' Keefe that there is word that Jeremy Swayman of the Boston Bruins was wanting a contract of $10 million a year.
That amount per year would put him in the range of Sergei Bobrovsky and Carey Price, who signed his monster deal a few years ago. Making Swayman tied for second amongst highest paid goalies.
Swayman did go to arbitration with the team last year and was not happy with the outcome then. Seems like he is swinging for the fences with this possible request.
Swayman is currently a restricted free agent so he can only negotiate with the Bruins. The Bruins at this time only have cap space for about $8.6 million. Even if he was to get into the $8 million range, that would put in the the category of 6th highest paid goalie in the league.
Cam Neely has stated that a deal will get done. And it seems like Swayman is swinging for the fences with this deal. This could put Boston in a difficult position. Goaltenders can have their ups and downs with confidence and with injuries. Investing that much into Swayman can be a risk.
With Swayman's RFA status, he might as well start high. If he was a UFA, there would be a chance that another team would be able to scoop him up. We will see what the Bruins counteroffer in the days to come.
