Sabres Prospect Leaves Team To Pursue New Opportunity

On Saturday an announcement was made that confirmed a Buffalo Sabres prospect would be terminating his contract. Multiple sources have confirmed that defenseman Nicolas Savoie requested his contract be terminated to pursue educational opportunities.
He will join the UNB Reds next season where he will play and take advantage of the education package provided to him after playing in the CHL.
Hearing that the UNB Reds have a commitment in place to add defenceman Nicolas Savoie for next season.

He played 21 ECHL games this season, and had a four game callup for the AHL's Rochester Americans.
This type of transaction is common for players not getting the opportunity they hoped for in the minor leagues.
While Savoie is forgoing an opportunity to play in professional hockey at the moment the opportunity could still come after his time with UNB.
