There is no denying that the Buffalo Sabres are an up and coming team right now. Many expect them to at least push for a wildcard spot if not a top three spot in the Atlantic. A big part of their success or failure this season will rest on the shoulders of their superstar number one defenseman Rasmus Dahlin.
Dahlin Suffers Injury at Sabres Training Camp
The Sabres held a team scrimmage today to help prepare themselves for preseason action which begins tomorrow. They could be without their number one defenseman though as he apparently suffered a hand injury late in the game.
Needless to say, Losing Dahlin for any period of time would be a massive loss for the Sabres. One that could have dire consequences on their season if he were to be out for an extended period of time. Dahlin lead Sabres D-men last year with 73 points while averaging nearly 26 minutes of ice time per game.
Luckily for the Sabres, it seems that they just managed to dodge this bullet.
Dahlin Avoids Major Hand Injury
Dahlin updated reporters following the game, stating,
"I'm all good."
Just like that, the entire city of Buffalo sighed a heavy sigh of relief. Dahlin went on to talk about the expectations for the team this year.
"It's go time. We don't have excuses anymore ... I want to have a longer season this year."
It is clear that the players on this Sabres team want to see playoff hockey just as much as their fans. Now that they have an established core of guys including Tage Thompson, Rasmus Dahlin, and Dylan Cozens, they should be able to see the promise land that is the Stanley Cup playoffs with a little luck.
