Terry Pegula is shaking things up in sports ownership. The owner of the Buffalo Sabres, along with a few other franchises, has reportedly put the team up for sale.
It's been a rough ride for the Sabres lately, missing out on the NHL playoffs for the 13th consecutive year. Head coach Don Granato and some of his coaching staff have already been given the boot, signaling a new direction for the organization.
Yet the Sabres aren't alone in Pegula's plans. He's looking to sell off all his sports holdings except for one - the Buffalo Bills. He's keeping the Bills in his pocket while putting the Sabres, their AHL affiliate Rochester Americans, Lacrosse teams Buffalo Bandits, and Rochester Knighthawks on the market.
Pegula took over the Sabres and the Bandits back in 2011, and now, with the recent billion-dollar sales of other NHL teams like the Arizona Coyotes and Ottawa Senators, he's eyeing a hefty profit from the Sabres sale.
Although Pegula Sports & Entertainment, the company overseeing all these teams, dissolved last year, it's unclear how this move will affect the future of each franchise. One thing's certain- Sabres GM Kevyn Adams is determined to turn things around, promising improvements to the roster and break the drought next season.
