Filip Zadina has had a solid start to his NHL career, but after an underwhelming season in 2023/24, he's now had to sign a PTO to spark his NHL career.
Back in 2018, the Detroit Red Wings selected Filip Zadina with the No. 8 overall pick, and ever since that point, the team have tried desperately to get him going at the NHL level after making his debut during the 2018/19 campaign. That never happened however, and the Red Wings ultimately let him go, with the 24-year old playing in 72 games for the Sharks a year ago, tallying a solid 13 goals and 23 points in that time.
In a contract year, it was a solid effort, but with so much player movement this summer, he's gone overlooked, and has now officially signed a PTO with the Buffalo Sabres as he looks to revive his NHL career.
Given his age and his 262 games of NHL experience, the potential is there for Zadina, and on a talented young Sabres team, he has the chance to finally catch on and prove he belongs at the top level.
However, the lack of production thus far is glaring, and if he doesn't prove that he can be a genuine game-changer in training camp, his future may be completely up in the air, so expect him to give his best for the Sabres as he looks to crack a talented young roster.
