Flames' defenseman Chris Tanev is known to be one of the toughest players in the NHL and we got another proof. Every game, he leaves all he has on the ice to win, and last night, he probably left a few teeth out there after an incident occured.
Tanev Block Shot with Face in Great Display of Courage
William Karlsson, forward for the Vegas Golden Knights, fired at the net, but the puck hit Tanev's face.
Tanev momentarily stayed on the ice, but got right back up and left the ice.
"Chris Tanev exited the game against the Vegas Golden Knights after getting hit in the face with the puck while diving to block William Karlsson's shot."
Tanev's Sacrifice Praised by Head Coach
After the game, Flames' head coach Ruan Huska had no update to provide on Tanev's health, other than he was moving and seemed allright.
Here's what he said:
"You wish that everybody has what he has. He's got a different level of courage that if you can give a little bit of what he's got to other guys on your team, oh man. Pretty special person."
Tanev will probably do all he can to get back on the ice for the next game. A true example to follow for all the young players out there.
