New York Rangers' forward Kaapo Kakko has had a career full of adversity since being drafted. This adversity continued to mount tonight after he suffered a significant-looking injury.
Kakko Suffers Serious Injury After Spilling Into The Boards
Kaapo Kakko's frustrating career continued to snowball tonight. In a puck battle with defenseman Erik Johnson Kakko fell awkwardly and his leg was bent in a gruesome.
Shortly after Kakko went to the locker room it was announced he would be out for the rest of the game.
UPDATE: Kaapo Kakko (lower body) will not return tonight.
The game has just ended with the Sabres defeating the Rangers 5-1. In the post-game remarks, we likely will get more updates on Kakko's status.
Kakko's Frustrating Career Suffers Another Setback
This injury is just the latest in a series of unfortunate events for Kaapo Kakko in his career.
After being drafted second overall in 2019 and being in the same caliber of player as Devils' Jack Hughes things have gone downhill for Kakko.
After three years of struggles to adapt to the NHL Kakko finally found his way last season. Last season Kakko finally broke the 40-point mark and showed signs of potential.
In 19 games this season Kakko only had 3 points and was back on the struggle bus. This injury will only continue to build frustration for Kakko. Hopefully, Kakko can use this rehab from his injury as a mental reset as well to get back to the player he was.
