Huberdeau Finally Shares His True Thoughts On Darryl Sutter
The rocky relationship between Jonathan Huberdeau and Darryl Sutter is no secret. It began early in the season and worsened as time went on.
After Sutter's recent dismissal, Huberdeau has finally shared his thoughts on the matter.
A drop from 115 points to 55 in a single season is not ordinary, nor does it make sense to play a 100+ point-scorer on his off-wing for most of the season.

In essence, Darryl Sutter was not the right coach for Jonathan Huberdeau, a notion that was reinforced today.
During an end-of-season press conference, Huberdeau openly criticized Sutter:
"...The connection between Darryl and me just wasn't there last year. Many factors contributed to this. There was a significant difference in points between my last two years, and his preferred style of play didn't mesh with my game.
A new coach will undoubtedly benefit my performance and confidence."
Huberdeau also spoke about the contentious situation surrounding Jakob Pelletier's NHL debut, when Sutter made distasteful remarks after the game that damaged the young player's confidence.
"Why make such comments to the media and then approach the kid to tell him he played well?"
"We were all disheartened, especially for a young player who doesn't need that kind of negativity. He just wants to perform well for himself and the team. We were all quite taken aback by the media's comments. We thought, 'That's Darryl.'"
Sutter's firing will likely bring relief to Huberdeau and his teammates.
While it's important to acknowledge Darryl Sutter's contributions to the Flames, it's hoped that this new chapter will usher in a more promising era and restore joy to the Calgary locker room.
