The Calgary Flames are currently four points away from securing an NHL Wild Card spot, with only 10 games remaining in their season. The team has been under a lot of scrutiny, with many speculating on what is wrong with them. Most of the criticism stems from the disorganized dressing room and the lack of communication between the players and head coach Darryl Sutter.
Sutter is Annoying the Flames With His Recent Behaviour
During a recent episode of the Barn Burner podcast, Daily Faceoff insider Frank Seravalli recounted an incident where Sutter was criticized for pretending not to know that Jakob Pellitier had made his NHL debut. According to Servalli, this is just an example of how the dressing room operates, which drives people crazy.
The incident involving Pellitier occurred a few days before Sutter's interview, with many within the Flames organization wondering if the player would make his NHL debut. Sutter refused to confirm or deny, and it took another player to approach him to finally get an answer.
"So, finally it took another player to go upstairs and say 'what are we going here? This kid's been hanging around, is he making his debut or not? And if he is, at least give him enough courtesy to say hey, yeah, you're in. Let's get your parents in here to make sure they see your first NHL game."
Finally, Sutter told Pellitier that he would be playing, which hurt Sutter's ego. During a news conference, Sutter made fun of Pellitier, saying that he was forced into playing the rookie.
"Oh, you forced my hand into playing this kid, and this is how I'm going to handle it publicly, just to let everyone know that this should have been my call."
The incident is just one example of how Sutter is driving everyone in the Flames organization crazy.
"That was his way of pushing back. And that's the stuff that goes on behind the scenes that drives people absolutely bananas."
