The Toronto Maple Leafs have an important summer ahead after their journey in the NHL playoffs came to a sudden end when they were defeated by the Florida Panthers in the second round.

They have several urgent tasks to address, including making decisions about the futures of Auston Matthews and William Nylander, as well as figuring out the goaltending situation involving Matt Murray and Ilya Samsonov.
Also, it's crucial for the Maple Leafs to focus on strengthening their blue line, as it will play a vital role in their success in the upcoming season.

Hanifin in Toronto?

One potential solution they can consider is adding Noah Hanifin to their team. At 26 years old, Hanifin would bring affordable talent to the Maple Leafs' defensive lineup. By including Hanifin to support Morgan Reilly, the latter could finally bring his game to the next level.
If the Leafs manage to acquire Hanifin, it would not only improve their defense but also allow Morgan Reilly to take on a more offensive role, which he has excelled at in the past. This dual role would make Reilly an even more valuable asset for the team. If Hanifin joins the team, the defensive lineup would likely look like this:
Hanifin/Brodie
Reilly/Liljegren
McCabe/Timmins
Giordano
By incorporating Hanifin into the lineup, both he and Reilly could have important roles in the team while splitting the defensive weight between them.
Here are Hanifin's hightlights for the 2022-23 season:
