This off-season has been a wild one for the NHL, with shock trades and free agency decisions, but as of yet, no news of a Martin Necas trade. It has seemingly been inevitable for the RFA forward, but now, General Manager Eric Tulsky has confirmed the surprise news that Necas, in his eyes will be a Carolina Hurricane when the 2024/25 season begins.
In the interview, Tulsky doesn't 100% close the door on a potential trade, but instead reveals that Necas will likely head to arbitration and get a one or two year deal to remain with Carolina. Over the past two years, the 25-year old center has excelled, notching a career high 71 points in 82 games in 2022-23, and while last season was a down year, playing in just 77 games and adding 53 points, he remains a sought after piece.
The Hurricanes value his skill down the middle greatly however, so unless a team absolutely blow Carolina away, expect them to keep Necas on their second line moving forward.
