Today the Carolina Hurricanes have finally ended the Martin Necas saga by signing him to an extension but the contract is leaving fans with more questions than answers.

This summer has been full of rumors of a potential Martin Necas trade. Early in the offseason reports revealed that Martin Necas was unhappy and wanted to leave. Today that seems to have changed as the two sides have agreed to a two-year contract extension.

The #Canes have agreed to terms with forward Martin Necas on a two-year contract extension!
The extension in itself is a surprise as the last reports indicated the two sides were not close. The term only being two years is also a major shock as many were assuming wherever Martin Necas ended up it would be long-term. Instead, new General Manager Eric Tulsky keeps Martin Necas around for the interim while they pursue the elusive Stanley Cup.
A trade could very well still happen in the future but this gives the Carolina Hurricanes more time to make that move. As more of this story develops we will continue to update the situation.
