Johnson's head hit the boards in a violent fashion and he looked to be in some discomfort. Kurashev was eventually given a five minute penalty and ejected from the game. The Sabres would take advantage and score on that ensuing powerplay taking control of the game.
Beyond the disappointing result of the game Kurashev and the Blackhawks will now have to wait to see if he faces any further discipline.
Blackhawks Forward Facing Potential Discipline
Philipp Kurashev will now have to wait to hear from the Department of Player Safety. If the DoPS feels it is necessary they could fine or even suspend Kurashev for his actions on the ice. If Kurashev is suspended it could lead to a frustrating situation for the Blackhawks.
If Kurashev is suspended their already ravaged by injuries forward group becomes thinner. Players are already playing up the lineup in roles that do not suit them. If Kurashev misses multiple games it could further compound on this issue.
As of now, nothing has been announced by the Department of Player Safety. Once updates are made to the situation we will continue to update the story and situation.
