After an impressive run a season ago, the Minnesota Wild have taken a major step back in 2023-24, and unfortunately, the bad news just keeps on coming.
While he has only tallied 5 points in 16 games this season, Jared Spurgeon is now set to be out for a long-time, with reports revealing that he will have two surgeries that will end his 2023-24 campaign.
The 34-year old has been a mainstay of this team since way back in 2010, earning his captaincy status, but with this injury and many others, it's becoming clear that 2023-24 just isn't the year of the Wild.
With three more years left on his contract, there's time for Spurgeon to get back on the ice and be a force for Minnesota, but at his age, there will be a very long road to recovery from these two surgeries.
