Yesterday, hockey social media was buzzing after rumours emerged that former Boston Bruins captain Patrice Bergeron could be preparing himself for an NHL return.

Not so fast says Patrice Bergeron

Many fans became excited when they thought a return could be possible, but today, a Boston Bruins reporter has revealed what the man himself had to say about the situation.
In case anyone wanted to know, I asked Patrice Bergeron about his «comeback». Via text, he responded «I am NOT making a comeback.» His emphasis on the «NOT.» Carry on.

The 38-year old is set to stay in retirement

While he's still reportedly in fantastic shape, Bergeron reveals that there's absolutely no truth to the rumours that a return is coming, and will instead look to stay involved with hockey after his playing career in a different role.
In 19 seasons with the Bruins, Bergeron played in 1,294 games, posting an impressive 427 goals and 1,040 points, and was also a key member in the 2011 Stanley Cup winning team, but it appears Bruins fans can give up on the possibility of a return.
