The world junior championship is an annual tournament that Canada regularly dominates. Unfortunately this year though, the team came into trouble as they were eliminated by Czechia in the quarter finals.
Canada Eliminated In Massive Upset At World Junior Championships
Team Canada had not been playing up to their normal level this year, that much was already clear. However, no one truly expected them to be eliminated in the quarter final round against Czechia. Unfortunately for Canadian fans though, that is exactly what happened.

This was just the 3rd time in tournament history Canada did not advance to the semi finals or better. The shocking upset lead to a wide range of reaction from around the hockey world, including from none other than Connor Bedard.
Bedard Shares Thoughts On Heartbreaking Loss For Team Canada
The Blackhawks rookie sensation addressed the loss with the media ahead of his game with the Hawks tonight. The 18-year-old expressed his disappointment in the result, especially since he is friends with many of the players on the team. Luckily though, he was able to get some fun out of it as he mentioned having to pay Petr Mrazek as the two made a bet on the game.

Head coach Luke Richardson also commented on the game, noting that Mrazek was having fun collecting his bet money from the Canadian players on the team including Bedard.
