As NHL training camps ramp up, players have been more accessible to the media. This includes Valeri Nichushkin. After his mysterious exit from the playoffs last season, Valeri Nichushkin spoke to the media today on the incident.

Valeri Nichushkin Speaks on Incident With Woman in Hotel Room

In case you forget, Nichushkin left Seattle in the middle of the series against the Kraken. There were little details released at the time, just that he was ushered to the airport with a security detail. A police report later revealed that an intoxicated woman was in Nichushkin's hotel room, and an ambulance needed to be called for her.
Nichushkin was asked about the incident today during an interview at training camp. He was clear that he didn't want to dive into the matter.
"It was family reasons. I know you guys want to find something there but there's nothing really interesting. I think we should close it. It's a new season." - Valeri Nichushkin

Nichushkin Wants to Focus on New Season Ahead with Avalanche

There was no NHL investigation into the matter that occurred with Nichushkin, as the NHL determined that Colorado and their staff handled the incident appropriately. As such, he is fully eligible to play this season with the Avalanche.
The team doctor who called the ambulance, however, is no longer with the team. There were no comments made to confirm why they were let go or whose decision it was to let them go.
Also in this story: The #Avs physician who determined the woman was unable to take a taxi/rideshare away from the Seattle hotel is no longer with the team. He still works for UC Health.

The team declined to say whose choice it was for him not to return.
