The NHL is obviously the toughest hockey league in the world, and with all the hype around prospects, we have seen plenty of players fail to make an impact at this level.
Unfortunately, that's a good way to describe Evgeny Svechnikov, who was a highly touted player when he was drafted No. 19 overall by the Detroit Red Wings back in 2015.
Since that point, he's failed to pan out, playing in 172 games across the past six seasons in Detroit, Winnipeg and San Jose, tallying just 45 points and 20 goals over that period.
Now, at just 26-years of age, the talented forward is heading home, as he has signed a two-year contract with AK Bars Kazan in the KHL where he will look to get his career back on track.
Svechnikov is still young enough to turn his career around, but after failing to find any consistency at the NHL level, he will need a major bounce back if he is ever to return to North America.
