After years of having a bad reputation, the Columbus Blue Jackets decided to hire Mike Babcock this off-season, but before he could coach a game, the veteran coaches tactics were found out, and he was released promptly.

More horror stories

After this happened, many former players came out and told their Babcock horror stories, painting a picture of a coach that no one in the league today would want to be coached by.
Unsurprisingly, we now have a new story, this time from veteran defenseman Jakub Kindl, who played for Babcock in Detroit, as he detailed the humiliation Babcock would put him through.
I wasn't his favorite player from the beginning, and even though (Detroit Red Wings GM Ken Holland) liked me, Babcock seemed to constantly test what I could handle and he let me know that he didn't like me as a player,» Kindl wrote for the Czechia news site titled Bez Frazi.. «I couldn't stand him as a person.»

«I saw him making jokes with the others, but with me, he barely exchanged a few words,» Kindl said. «If he did, it was to humiliate me. For example, he once put me on the right side of the defense, and I was looking at the lineup in disbelief. He was just passing by and heard me, so he looked at the lineup and said, 'Yeah, you're on the right side. You have trouble playing on the left, and I'm making it harder for you, right?

Sweet Revenge

It's become no secret that Babcock was a terrible coach for many reasons, but choosing to pick on specific players for no reason is another one of those, but thankfully, it appears that Kindl got his revenge on Babcock, and others around the organization let him know about it.
They knew how hard it was under Babcock. That evening, I received a lot of messages from people all over the club, from chefs, guys who parked our cars, facility personnel, and from the people who worked in offices. They all congratulated me. - Kindl after scoring the game winner against Babcock's Maple Leafs.

Ultimately, we already knew about the mind games that he unnecessarily played with his players, and for those in Columbus, they must feel like they dodged a major bullet.
