The Detroit Red Wings franchise has 100 years of experience and tradition, and when that gets changed in the slightest, their fans won't hesitate to let the organization know of their displeasure.
Following in the footsteps of the Toronto Maple Leafs, Montreal Canadiens and Boston Bruins, the Red Wings are set to announce a jersey sponsor ahead of their next game, a very controversial move indeed.
No matter who the jersey sponsor turns out to be, they've not turned out to be popular additions among fan bases, and the backlash has been immediate from Red Wings fans all over social media.
Despite having some major sponsors, the Red Wings have never officially added a patch to their jersey, and while it may not be the biggest change aesthetically, fans are clearly against the patches, and will make that known when it is officially announced.
Unfortunately, all of this negative backlash likely won't change the decision by the Red Wings, and given the NHL's updated stance on jersey sponsors, it's likely to happen to every team in the league before long.
