After reports emerged that Andrei Tarasenko, Vladimir's father and 20-year veteran of Russian Hockey had passed away, the reported was officially confirmed by HC Sabir.
At just 56-years of age, this is a tragedy for the Tarasenko family and anyone touched by Andrei over the years, as he played a significant role on and off the ice in the landscape of Russian hockey for a long time. Between 1985 and 2005, Tarasenko was an effective player on the ice in many leagues in Russia, and has been a big supporter of his son after making the NHL, getting to witness Vladimir win the Stanley Cup not once but twice.
