Best Player in Hockey Loses Beer League Championship

Whether or not Connor McDavid ever wins a Cup with the Edmonton Oilers remains one of the NHL's great ongoing mysteries. Unfortunately for the NHL's best player, though, he still can't win a title even in a beer league, as his team just lost the championship game.
As proof that not even the league's best can necessarily elevate your beer league team, McDavid's blue team lost 9-4 to the red team (which included fellow NHLer Quinton Byfield) in the league final. A reel posted on BarDown's Instagram account shows a woman telling viewers about the fact that her boyfriend would be playing against McDavid that day.

Calm Before This Season's Storm?

One can easily assume that, really, this is just McDavid getting warmed up for the upcoming NHL season, and a simple beer league championship final is just child's play to someone like him. That said, he's still Connor McFreakingDavid, and Instagram user @thedannygexperience's comment below sums up how he was still head and shoulders above everyone else in the game.
I was there. Connor was playing at 0.03% effort and STILL made everyone else look like they had polio.

Unfortunately for McDavid, managing to lose in a beer league final could very well be chirping fodder for opponents during the 2023-24 season. It's now on him and the Oilers to prove those folks wrong.
