All summer long, we've seen several teams from Buffalo to New York, Colorado to Edmonton all linked to the veteran, but one recent report from TSN's Dave Poulin reported that the Maple Leafs were gearing up to 'aggressively pursue' the star veteran.
However, he has now cleared up a miscommunication, revealing that he never quite said that, claiming that he was misquoted in that report.
This doesn't mean that the Maple Leafs are completely out on him however, and even though the team are strapped for cash, Poulin has revealed that they could still be an option, but it's up to Kane, as he believes Kane wants a longer term deal, whereas joining a Stanley Cup contender like Toronto would come with a short term deal.
Ultimately, it doesn't appear that Kane is going to make up his mind anytime soon, but at this point, both the Oilers and Maple Leafs are still in play, and wherever he ends up will no doubt have a major impact on the 2023-24 season.
