Adam Henrique was just supposed to be a short-term rental for the Oilers when they acquired him at the trade deadline, however, he re-signed with the team.

In July, Adam Henrique weighed his options carefully and liked Edmonton best, inking a two-year deal with the Oilers at $3 million per year.
Surprisingly, this offseason the Oilers weren't the only ones looking for his services. It's said that Adam Henrique passed on a more lucrative offer from the Winnipeg Jets, said to be offering him $3.5 million per year for two seasons.
While re-signing with Edmonton meant leaving $500K on the table, this deal is important to a team that has struggled with the salary cap.
At 34, Adam Henrique showed he still has much to give. Since joining the Oilers, he had six goals and nine points in 22 regular-season games, with seven points in 17 Stanley Cup Playoff appearances.
Projected to play center for coach Kris Knoblauch's third line next season, Adam Henrique will likely do so with a variety of linemates including, but not limited to, Vasily Podkolzin, Jeff Skinner, Connor Brown, and Mattias Janmark. Whoever it ends up being, Henrique's decision to stay in Edmonton speaks volumes about his desire to pursue that ever-elusive Stanley Cup in Oiler colors. The opposite could be said about the Winnipeg Jets, whom Henrique likely felt weren't ready to compete for the Cup next season.
