The Edmonton Oilers salary cap situation is starting to look pretty tight. After cap dumping Ryan McLeod to the Buffalo Sabres for top prospect Matt Savoie, they're still liable for more cleansing.

There are still RFAs Dylan Holloway and Philip Broberg, to sign, which will only tighten management's budget further.
The Oilers want to find a way to keep both players, but Daily Faceoff's Frank Seravalli threw another curveball into the mix. He suggested that another team could offer Broberg six years at $4.5 million per year.
Broberg's already voiced frustration over his few opportunities, and proved in the playoffs he should be trusted more. Matching that kind of offer would mean making significant moves, possibly involving Evander Kane staying on LTIR, which isn't ideal.
If I were another team, I'd be trying to offer sheet Philip Broberg. I'd give him six years times $4.5-million bucks You get a young defenceman who already let you know he was unhappy with his opportunity. (He) made the case in the playoffs that he should've been playing all year with the way that he played, now is an important part of your team moving forward and they don't have the ability to keep him if they get an offer sheet. There's really no chance to even match that, the surgery you would have to do to make that happen. It would involve Kane LTIR. that's lock and key not coming off LTIR.
If Edmonton couldn't match the offer, they'd get a second-round pick in return for letting him walk.
We're going over the idea on if the #Flames should offer sheet Philip Broberg or Dylan Holloway of the #LetsGoOilers.
The 24 year-old is poised to be a top-four defenseman in his career. Any offer sheet would see the Oilers have no choice but to let one of their coveted blueliners go.
