In what appears to have been a never-ending saga, the Edmonton Oilers and Leon Draisaitl have finally agreed on a massive long-term extension.

Oilers fans, the wait is over, as superstar forward Leon Draisaitl will be in Edmonton for the foreseeable future. After months of speculation over his contract, with many experts pegging a seven or eight-year deal with an average annual value of approximately $13 million, the wait is finally over, and the two signs appear to be signing on the dotted lines.
For Leon Draisaitl, NHL insider Elliotte Friedman reports he has signed a contract that will make him the highest-paid NHL player with an AAV of $14 million over eight years.
Having been one of the staples in Edmonton since the 2015-16 season, Draisaitl has grown into one of the most prolific stars in the league. He has managed to score as many as 347 goals and make 503 assists in nearly nine seasons comprising 719 NHL games. He has been similarly impressive in the playoffs with 108 points coming in just 74 games.
