Paul Maurice, the head coach of the Florida Panthers, probably isn't shedding any tears for Jacob Trouba after the New York Rangers defenseman got fined for elbowing Evan Rodrigues.
Maurice dropped an all time quote when asked about Trouba's suspension. Here it is!
Take the hat, pass it around. Poor lad, poor Jake. He won't be able to eat.
Trouba got hit with a $5,000 fine, the max under the CBA, for that elbow to Rodrigues' noggin.
The refs originally called it a major penalty, but after a second look, they dialed it back to a two-minute minor. Trouba didn't seem too bothered by it.
Yeah, it all went down pretty quick. You're not exactly running through a thousand scenarios in your head. Stuff just happens in the heat of the moment, you know, hockey being hockey.
Some thought the penalty should've be a major but the play was reviewed and ruled a minor, despite pushback.
If you're a hockey analyst still tweeting the opposite angle to make Trouba appear dirty and Rodrigues injured you're not actually an analyst you're just trying to further your narrative.
The Rangers won 5-4 in overtime on Alex Wennberg's first goal as a Blueshirt.
Alex Wennberg's first goal of the playoffs was a BIG ONE!
