The Minnesota Wild have had a turbulent season in 2023-24. One of the major question marks as the season has gone on is what the team does with future Hall of Fame goaltender Marc-Andre Fleury. A new comment from Wild general manager Bill Guerin has provided some clarity on the situation.

NHL Insider Reports Fleury's Time In Minnesota Is Coming To An End

A couple of days ago NHL insider Pierre LeBrun put out a report concerning Marc-Andre Fleury. LeBrun said that after talking with Bill Guerin the sense he got was that Fleury might be on the move once the team discusses it with him.
"Fleury has to have that discussion in the next couple weeks with his agent, Allen Walsh," LeBrun said. "They have a full no-move (clause) and it's up to Walsh and Fleury if he goes anywhere before the Deadline, we don't know the answer to that yet.

LeBrun went on to mention several teams that could take a run at getting Fleury which set off a ton of speculation.
Toronto tried to trade for him two years ago - different GM, but nevertheless, the Leafs still have question marks in net. Edmonton, how about a mentor for Stuart Skinner? New Jersey, they haven't had saves all year. Carolina, how about a mentor to (Pyotr) Kochetkov?

There was so much speculation on this situation that Wild GM Bill Guerin felt the need to address the situation with the media.

Wild Give A Major Update On The Future Of Fleury

In his comments Guerin mentioned that there has been no decision made on the future of Fleury. According to Guerin neither he nor Fleury's camp are ready to make a decision like that.
"It's just too early for that, and I'm not ready, and I'm sure 'Flower' isn't ready, to have that conversation, either," Guerin said

Once the decision is made if Fleury does indeed become available he would likely be the best goalie available on the trade market. With there being such a huge need for veteran goaltending amongst playoff teams Fleury could fetch a ton of value for the Minnesota Wild if dealt.
