Jesperi Kotkaniemi, the 3rd overall pick in the 2018 NHL draft, appears to be finding his groove with the Carolina Hurricanes. Since December 20th, he has notched an impressive 29 points in 44 games.

The young Finn's transition to Carolina seems to be just what he needed after a challenging start in the Montreal market. The change of scenery, along with valuable experience gained with the Canes, has provided him with the maturity needed to succeed in the NHL.
However, during a recent interview, Kotkaniemi reverted to his old ways, taking a few shots at the Habs and Montreal media.

It comes as no surprise that the young player still harbors some resentment towards his former team and the manner in which he was introduced to the NHL. Kotkaniemi himself conceded that he might have been better off returning to Finland for further development rather than diving straight into the NHL after being drafted.
In a recent interview, the 22-year-old highlighted the differences between his experiences in Montreal and Carolina, taking a subtle jab at the Habs in the process.
«The media is really big in Montreal, and it can get in your head really fast if you read all that stuff.»

«Here in Carolina, life is so much easier. You don't really stress about anything. Great teammates. Great staff. The media is not bad. It's really a stress-free life here.»

«I'm kind of starting to find my way in this league,» Kotkaniemi said.
