Reports began circulating today that a former pro scout of the Montreal Canadiens has sadly passed away at the young age of 46.
Adrian Dater, a journalist of the Colorado Avalanche, broke the news of the passing of Scott on social media today. Masters was the video coach of the Colorado Avalanche, and followed that up with his pro scout job within the Montreal Canadiens organization. Many people have heavy hearts today with this sad news.
"RIP to former Avs video coach Scott Masters. Scott also worked in the Florida, St. Louis and Montreal organizations."
Masters began his NHL career working as a video coach for several teams between 2001 and 2013. They were the Colorado Avalanche, St. Louis Blues and the Florida Panthers. He was then hired as a pro scout for the Montreal Canadiens, and held that role for seven seasons from 2013 until 2019.
Masters co-founded Lacroix hockey, and was recently on a podcast entitled Hockey Minds, where he explained how he got his big break in the league. He owes full credit to legendary general manager Doug Armstrong, who Masters said really believed in his ability as a pro scout and helped him work hard and get to the levels he achieved.
This is a very sad day indeed for everyone in the hockey world, and we wish the Masters family our sincerest condolences.
