Vincent Lecavalier connected to assistant coach role on the Montreal Canadiens

The speculation all began due to an announcement made at the beginning of the Montreal Canadiens development camp. The announcement confirmed that Alex Burrows and Lauri Korpikoski would be joining the team in development coach roles.

This was strange because before the announcement Alex Burrows was an assistant coach for the main NHL Montreal Canadiens staff. With him transitioning into a development role an assistant coaching position has now been opened.

In the past several days there have been growing reports that the assistant coaching position could go to a familiar face that has a relationship with Martin St-Louis. According to these reports former Tampa Bay Lightning teammate Vincent Lecavalier has been rumored to be the top choice.

Vincent Lecavalier has already joined the organization but in an undefined role. With the 2024-25 NHL season quickly approaching some believe his eventual role will in fact be as a member of the coaching staff under Martin St-Louis.

With all of this in mind, it will be fun to watch over the next couple of weeks and months to see if Vincent Lecavalier is more involved with the operations of the Montreal Canadiens. As more reports come to light and clear up this situation we will continue to pass them along to you.
