The Montreal Canadiens, in the middle of a rebuild, have a plethora of similar players. The team has six defensemen in the NHL and AHL between the ages of 22-23, with two of the spots guaranteed to NHL veteran players. Not to mention the team has a three-headed goalie rotation that really seems like it is devaluing all goaltenders in any trade discussion.

Reports have Jordan Harris on the block in Montreal

On Wednesday a report surfaced online about the Montreal Canadiens putting the 23-year-old Harris on the block
Hearing the Montreal Canadiens are shopping Jordan Harris ahead of the deadline.

Harris is a 23-year-old LHD who skates well & has 1 more year left on his deal ($1.4M). MTL's overflow of young D has made him expendable. #GoHabsGo

The Canadiens, outside of the two veteran defensemen, seemingly have seven other defensemen that can be playing in the NHL right now, developing on the same timeline as the teams rebuild. Unfortunately, there are just too many players and some have to get moved to free up the log jam. Especially with Montreal having top prospect David Reinbacher coming along soon.
Montreal could look for a few picks, find a way to ship out a bad contract, or swap for a young forward in return.

Harris' season so far has been mired with injuries

Harris initially made the Canadiens out of training camp and was looking good in the first part of the season. Unfortunately, he was injured on November 18, 2023, and did not return to the line up until December 28. He played until after the all star break where he would be hurt the first game back and miss 10 days, getting back into the line up on February 21, 2024.
Harris has six points on the season while skating 16:59 on average this season. He is one of the more consistent Montreal defensemen but a trade could bring back more needed assets as Montreal continues to rebuild.
