The Toronto Maple Leafs have had a difficult season to this point. As the trade deadline looms overhead, Brad Treliving could look to make some major moves.

Toronto Maple Leafs Interested In Three-Team Trade?

As the March 8th trade deadline creeps ever closer, fan engagement continues to increase regarding trades and trade rumors. The Athletic recently put out an article that shows off some creative trade possibilities, including one interesting trade proposal involving the Leafs. The proposal has the Leafs making a trade with the Coyotes and then flipping another asset to acquire another defenseman the team has reportedly had their eyes on this season.
Arizona Coyotes trade Matt Dumba and a 2024 second-round draft choice to the Maple Leafs for Toronto's 2024 first-rounder.
Toronto flips the second-rounder to the Calgary Flames for Chris Tanev.
This deal would see the Leafs add two quality blueliners in Matt Dumba and Chris Tanev while only giving up their 2024 1st round pick in exchange. It would be a masterclass of a deal from Brad Treliving if he is able to pull it off.

Calgary Flames Looking For A 1st Round Pick For Tanev

Unfortunately for Treliving and the Leafs, this deal may not be possible. It has recently been reported that the Leafs have already offered multiple picks to Calgary in exchange for the 34-year-old defenseman, but the team apparently wants a 1st round pick for him.
The Leafs are thought to have offered ‘multiple picks' for the Flames' Chris Tanev, but Calgary is holding out for a first-round pick, which could impact Noah Hanifin's chances.
Obviously, in this scenario, the Flames would likely not accept a 2nd round pick for Tanev. Anything is possible though. As the trade deadline gets closer and closer the Flames may be forced to settle for a 2nd round pick. Perhaps the Leafs could through in a later round pick as well to get them over the edge on other teams. Brad Treliving will certainly be heralded as a hero in Toronto should he pull this move off.
