In a shocking move, Kyle Dubas ended a player's contract right after acquiring him via a trade.
Kyle Dubas Had One Intention in Recent Trade
Former Leafs GM Kyle Dubas made his first big move during the season with his new team the Pittsburgh Penguins, trading Mark Friedman and Ty Glover to the Vancouver Canucks for Jack Rathbone and Karel Plasek. In his more recent move, we got a peek at his true intentions.
Karel Plasek -- acquired yesterday by PIT from VCR -- is on unconditional waivers for purposes of contract termination
The move effectively ends Plasek's contract, which tells us that Dubas was only interested in adding Jack Rathbone and opening up a contract spot.
Rathbone a Promising Prospect for the Penguins
Rathbone is a promising defensive prospect for the Penguins and will be fighting for a spot in the roster for some time to come. He has yet to play in a full NHL season after being drafted in 2017, however, he has seen some success in the AHL, putting up 40 points in 39 games in 2019-2020.
Jack Rathbone with an absolute BOMB from the point.
Speaking of points, Arshdeep Bains picks up his third primary assist of the game on the Rathbone goal. Cole McWard gets the secondary assist on the goal.
Canucks lead 3-2.
