This now means that the final roster has essentially been set. The Penguins will have a mix of veterans and a few younger players getting their first full opportunities in the NHL.
Penguins Roster Now Set With Some Massive Upgrades
The Penguins after their waiver placements have essentially finalized their roster heading into the 2023-24 NHL season. Taylor Haase of DK Pittsburgh Sports put together what the potential lineup may look like.
The biggest changes to the roster mostly come on defense. The additions of Ryan Graves and Erik Karlsson figure to be a huge help to a team that struggled defensively.
Up front, Drew O'Connor earns a roster spot after getting some time in the NHL last season. Jansen Harkins also pushed and made the roster as well. Finally, the Penguins were able to add Reilly Smith via trade to really bolster their top-six.
Now that the roster is set it will be fascinating to see if Kyle Dubas' imprint on the team can lead to success. For such a veteran group anything short of a Stanley Cup will likely be considered a disappointment.
