It is not often a consistent 30-goal scorer becomes available for trade but that might be the case for the Pittsburgh Penguins.

The Cost To Acquire Premier Sniper In The NHL

The Pittsburgh Penguins may have star sniper Jake Guentzel available for trade. The 29-year old has been Crosby's goal scorer for the past number of years and has proven himself to be a legit shooter in the league scoring 40 goals in a season twice.
The cost to acquire the superstar is rather high according to an NHL Insider.
Dhaliwal says the cost of Jake Guentzel is a 1st rounder, a top prospect, and a player.
The Penguins are making it clear they are only going to get rid of their player for the right price and it is not cheap by any means.

The Penguins Play This Year Despite The Addition of Karlsson

During the off-season Kyle Dubas went all in on Erik Karlsson to help bring the Penguins back to the playoffs but it seems the addition of EK65 has not been enough as the Penguins sit 7th in the Metropolitan Division.
They may now be switching to trying to reacquire prospects and picks in order to help rebuild the team for the future.
With Guentzel being on the last year of a five year deal he might be the first candidate to be on the move, with that steep of a price to acquire it may deter teams from acquiring him.
