After a stellar run in Pittsburgh in the era of Sidney Crosby, they've now missed back-to-back Stanley Cup Playoff appearances, and now they've got to make some huge calls on their future. The biggest of all is regarding Sidney Crosby, who will hit free agency in the summer of 2025 unless he signs an extension, and now his long-time teammate
Evgeni Malkin has weighed in on his status.
According to Malkin, he had discussions with Crosby that signalled he would remain with the Penguins, and after all the city and the team have given to him over the years, it would make perfect sense. Whether or not they have the team to make a playoff push is up in the air as of right now, but with the star trio of Letang, Malkin and Crosby in tact, they may look to simply play out their careers together after winning an incredible three Cups together.
Things can change however, but as of right now, all signs point to Crosby remaining in Pittsburgh, but we will all find out in the coming 12 months.
