The Pittsburgh Penguins future is up in the air with their superstar trio, and now, Sidney Crosby could ink a deal to keep him in Pittsburgh for the remainder of his NHL career. On his 37th birthday, reports emerged from Mark Madden that the team could announce an extension, given how important 8 and 7 (his birthday, jersey number and current cap hit) are to him, the reports certainly made plenty of sense.
Unfortunately, his birthday is officially here, and the team have posted about their iconic captain, but with no news as of yet on an extension, fans are becoming highly disappointed.
There's still plenty of time to get a deal done, and even if it doesn't happen on his birthday, training camp is still a few weeks away, giving Kyle Dubas and Crosby's management team the time to make a deal happen. After two iconic decades and three Stanley Cup's as the captain of the team, the likelihood that Crosby plays anywhere else in his NHL career is very low, so if he's yet to get a deal before the season begins, then fans could begin panicking.
