Toronto Maple Leafs forwards Nick Robertson and Pontus Holmberg were named in a recent Pittsburgh Penguins trade proposal for Lars Eller and Matt Nieto.

Kyle Dubas had some vision, whatever it may have been, for the Maple Leafs during his stint as the franchise's general manager. Part of the future he saw in Toronto included young forward Nick Robertson, who shared his excitement about being drafted at 53rd overall.
"It's just a very big spot for hockey. It's definitely exciting to hopefully be a player for the Maple Leafs one day and it's definitely special for me."
However, with the team under new management and little ice time to show for his work, Nick Robertson has asked to be traded from the franchise. As expected, the RFA has become a popular name in Toronto trade discussions. Among the possible bidders are the Los Angeles Kings and Utah HC.
Yet, one fan has made a new proposal involving the young forward. An unnamed user shared a deal that would send Robertson back to Kyle Dubas with the Pittsburgh Penguins, along with Pontus Holmberg, another Maple Leaf with fewer than 100 NHL games. In return, Toronto would acquire Stanley Cup winner Lars Eller, Matt Nieto, and a 2027 third-round draft pick.

Both Toronto forwards have a combined 64 points in 178 games. On the opposite end, Lars Eller and Matthew Nieto have more career points on their own than games their trade subjects have played in the league. Yet, with both players in their thirties and raking in primarily single-to-lower double-digit point totals each season, the proposal may not be as one-sided as it seems on first look. However, with Nick Robertson still an RFA, he may not agree to this move in the first place.
